Das Boutique Hotel York House in Lissabon besticht durch gute Lage und authentischen Charme Das Hotel York House ist eines von mehreren Gebäuden, die zusammen das Marianerkonvent bildeten, welches 1606 erbaut wurde. Auf Befehl der Marquis de Pombal wurde dieses Kloster im Jahre 1759 aufgelöst. 1880 wurde dann, nach langer Zeit der Vernachlässigung, ein Teil der Klosteranlage in ein Hotel umgewandelt. Nachdem Sie die rosafarbene Mauer passiert und geheimnisvolle Treppen erstiegen haben, gelangen Sie in den mit vielen Bäumen, Blumen und Grünpflanzen dekorierten Innenhof des Hotel York House, wo Sie sich wie in einer privaten Villa fühlen werden und wo man herrlich ein ausgezeichnetes Essen genießen kann. Das Hotel liegt im Zentrum Lissabons und besitzt 34 Zimmer, einen Speisesaal sowie eine Bar. Das Interieur ist sehr geschmackvoll gestaltet, mit Fußböden aus poliertem Holz und Marmorfliesen, und strahlt Ruhe und eine typisch portugiesische Atmosphäre aus.

Lovely, just lovely

With its lush, green, secluded garden terrace, elegantly appointed sitting areas, halls decorated with antiques and statues, York House supports guests with its quiet dignity and charm. Rooms are small but nice, bathrooms modern. We loved our stay there. Centrally located and yet hidden away. You could walk all over Lisbon's crazy maze of hill-challenged streets to find a nice place for a drink, or you could buy some cheeses and a bottle of wine/port and bring it back to the garden terrace; magically a staff person will appear and offer you plates and proper glasses, and you can just enjoy life for what it is meant to be. Highly recommend. P.S. the porter will bring your bags up the stairway, but beware too much luggage is not the best way to enjoy an old, once-convent then private home then traditional hotel.

Looks like nothing from the outside, but climb the stairs, enter the shaded courtyard, and you will find a charming, modern, quiet, hidden gem where you can enjoy first-class accommodations in the heart of Lisbon. Rooms are spacious, the staff is helpful and gracious, and the 15 Euro breakfast is ample and generous. Would stay there again if we return to Lisbon. Highly recommended!
