We’re not talking motor racing American style, we’re talking holiday destination Sardinian style. That usually means a great spot for the sea, urbane class and nature not too far off. In the case of the Nascar (supposedly named after an 11th century temple) you also get one of the oldest building of Santa Maria Navarrese, which itself is a wonderful little coast villages in one of the finest coastlines of the whole island.

The Nascar, in fact, is only some 50 metres from the water’s edge and many of its rooms take in the fantastic seascape of the Orosei Gulf. Yet in the Nascar itself you can take in a shade of the oak or olive trees in the garden and enjoy that get away from it all feeling. All twelve rooms are decorated in a different theme and the small details are important, including soundproofing, though there isn’t much noise from the outside. But just to make sure anyway. But so is the friendliness of the place, the culinary experiences and cultural offerings.

Pierre and Claudia are superb hosts and often go beyond the call of duty to make your stay here a memorable one. Food is great, so don’t miss a lunch here. As for the culture we mentioned, there are archeological trips and wine tasting. Claudia’s family even run a small boat for trips to Calas (reached only by boat and well worth visiting).

We pretty much guarantee the day you leave will be a sad one. Still, you can always come back next year.
